Restaurant Week offers more than filling dishes

New this year are a slew of events to tempt the pallet and support downtown businesses

As York kicks off another Restaurant Week, the focus this year is on more than tasty dishes waiting to fill your belly.

Organizers have worked hard to make the event a group effort and entice people not only to downtown eateries but to their neighboring boutiques and shops.

"There is a very real sense that a rising tide lifts all boats when it comes to downtown, and we really wanted to make Restaurant Week as inclusive as possible," said Meagan Feeser, spokeswoman for the event.

In addition to the special meal parings and discounts offered at area restaurants, a slew of events are slotted for this week.

Saturday kicked off with a Smart Magazine happy hour at the Yorktowne Hotel, followed by an Ethiopian Pop-Up dinner at the YorKitchen in Central Market.

Even if you missed both of those, you can catch Mayor Kim Bracey serving lunch at Mi Caldero on Wednesday, and if you were lucky enough to get tickets in advance, attend a dinner prepared by Tutoni's at YorKitchen on Thursday.
